Today’s word is forsooth. This archaic adverb was used to say “in truth”. For instance, it was used in this sentence from Henry Fielding’s, The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling , 1749 : “…but he is a gentleman forsooth , though he had not cloths on his back when he came hither first…”
